- James Thomas Linnell studied at the Royal Academy
- He was the son of John Linnell one of Britain’s most successful early 19th Century Landscape painters along with Samuel Palmer who was married to James’ sister.
- He proved to be as successful as his father exhibiting almost continuously between 1850 and 1890 – specialising in a brighter pallet which gives his painting a lovelly luminosity.
- This particular painting is an exceptional example of one of his most accomplished works – and was retailed by Haynes fine Art one of UK’s most prestigious Art Galleries. He’s used the Pre-Raphaelite technique of setting the painting on a white ground so that it has a superb luminosity
- His works are displayed in 12 UK museums, as well as stately homes and appear in major US collections.
